My full name is Marius Juul Nielsen, and I have been working with live
visuals since 2012, where me and a friend made an art piece using
two slide-projectors and a video of food coloring in yoghurt.
From there it progressed into using software
like VDMX and MadMapper to create visuals, a degree in interaction design from
the Danish School of Media and Journalism and trying my hand as a freelancing
video artist in Copenhagen.
As an independent artist I have done all sorts of projects for venues, bands
and festivals. I built a giant red robot, performed live for sleeping audiences
and have been VJing for acts such as Kalaha, Kenton Slash Demon, Rumpistol,
Peter Sommer, Sanne Salomonsen, Yör and Bjørn Svin.
Now I live in a more rural and much more picturesque part of Denmark,
next to a manor that is host to a school of fine art.
Here I pass on my knowledge of design, software and hardware to aspiring visual
artists. My curricullum draws from my own practices, which I'm still exploring
as an active member of the Danish VJing scene.
Currently I'm occupied with merging the realms of analog and digital video,
using the iconic Panasonic WJ-MX50 video mixer and TouchDesigner.
Aside from beeing deeply involved with pixels and screens,
I have an affinity for science fiction stories, LEGO bricks and cute cats.
